The issue is one of authority. No Christian or pastor or church or denomination has the authority to impose its own brand of Christianity on anybody else.

Today we are starting a study of Paul’s letter to the Galatians. This is a letter that has had a significant influence in determining what road the Christian faith would take. It helped keep Christianity on the right road in the first century; it played a powerful role in the Protestant Reformation in returning Christianity to the right road of salvation by grace; and, in our day the message is no less important in keeping us on the right spiritual road.

Our simple idea today is this: We love the local church because it is uniquely suited to leading people to Christ. This capacity to lead people to Christ is wrapped up in our identity as “disciples of Jesus.”
